    Leadership is Currency at Crane


    The R&D Team within Crane Currency is now looking for a passionate, energetic and dedicated Project Leader to lead development, scale-up and commercialization efforts of new technologies in the areas of security printing, security inks and security features integration before and during printing.   This position will be based in Tumba, Sweden and reporting directly into the VP, R&D & Technology in the US.  The Project Leader will be working to improving product quality and developing new processes with security integrations.  A key function of this role will be using stage gate processes to ensure that all deliverables are met in a timely and cost effective manner with an emphasis on quality.  As part of a matrix organization, this position would be expected to achieve objectives by contributing effectively on an individual basis, as part of a team and managing the efforts of a project team. 

    • Identify and lead new development Projects in paper, security feature integration and print with proven ability to design experiments and run trial to be efficient in the development of critical processes and products

    • Apply analytical skills and experience to efficiently develop and scale up robust new processes and products

    • Demonstrate the ability to lead FEMA processes or similar to mitigate product and process risk

    • Work in cross-functional, international teams as lead or participant using self-initiative to provide the highest level of technical support to customers, vendors, marketing, sales, operations and product management

    • Coordinate across the global sites or development, scale-up and validation trials on new products.

    • Apply and ensure the use of sound knowledge and safety, health and environmentally responsible actions during the execution of projects and day-to-day responsibilities


    • Degree in Paper or  Print Technology or one of the Physical Sciences, Material Science or Chemical Engineering.  A Gradudate or Post Graduate degree from accredited college/university would be preferred
    • Six sigma certification or project mangement certifcation
    • Minimum of 8 years' experience in R&D, process engineering or a similar manufacturing environment
    • Security print works, Commercial print works, inks manufacturing,  banknote industry preferred. Security inks development and/or manufacturing



    • Training and experience with Six Sigma statistical tools
    • Experience with Stage gate process
    • Expert with  analytical,  trouble shooting skills and practical user of statistical tools
    • Ability to lead the processess like FMEA to mitigate product and process risk (Project risk)
    • Ability to design experiement and run trials to be efficient in the devlopment of process and products
    • Ability to work in cross fuctional teams and/or as individual contributor as required with minimum supervision
    • Good verbal & written communication skills and ability to communicate at different levels within organization
    • Up to 20% travel may be required
